Oh, the Bernard Butler-era. Every Suede song from that era (1992-1994) was absolutely perfect.

You’r probably too young, but Bernard Butler live was just incredible. He made Johnny Greenwood look lazy by comparison.

They’d kick off the show with the slow piano tune “The Next Life” and the lights would dim. When they came on, Bernard Butler had left the piano and was back, usually armed with his Gibson ES-355, and had this frantic stage presence. He was erratic and exciting and never still. It was impossible to get a look at his face as his hair was going everywhere. I grew up loving Johnny Marr most, but Marr wasn’t nearly as exciting on stage as Bernard Butler.

me too.
