your visits are getting shorter

my only regret about intimacy was that we didnt put this song on the main record. initially i had wanted it to be the lead single but at the last minute i chickened out. as time has gone by i have begun to realise its real importance to me.

I’m just glad you guys released it.

It’s one of my favorites.

curtis

agreed, this song is fantastic

Vanessa

This is my favorite song on the “Special Limit Edition CD” I LOVE IT!!

jennifer

It is my favorite song on the record. The lyrics speak so loudly to me…

Zbyszek

I listened to this song non-stop for a long, dark time. Autumn 2008.
Was actually wondering why it was never a single.

Can’t wait to see you on Sunday in Dublin. Will give you a little wave.

Jarred

One of my favourite songs on the album, I bought the CD and didnt even know it existed until i saw it on the web. Really good song and something totally different i want to see how it would be done live though? :)

this, talons, and letter to my son are my favorites off of the whole album. they’re genius.

crafty bison

Yeah, I loved it, and this would have been Bloc Party’s best chance of a #1 single, for sure.

Absolutely 100% agree. This is one of my favourite songs. Brings up a lot of feelings, emotions and memories for me.

Cuddle_Duck

Yeh I totally agree….this song (lyrics) really reach out to me….I love it….it’s nice to see you label yourself as a “chicken” lol.

That’s what makes us humans….mistakes are a learning curve…have a beer Kele :-)

epic track

I used to just play this song on a loop for hours, Lol. It wasn’t the best of times personally, to say the least, but it’s songwriting like this that helped get me through it. Thanks, man.

def. one of my faves on Intimacy.

LETTER TO MY SON IS A TOP 5 BLOC SONG!! you should have made that a single… Your visits are getting shorter is good too :)

Steven

Didn’t you feel that way about Skeleton as well?? Maybe you can redeem your feelings by point Your Visits and Skeletons on whatever sort of Bloc Party compilation you end up releasing. They belong on there. You don’t want a compilation like SUEDEs “Singles”, do you? I realize it was supposed to just be singles, but songs like “My Insatiable One”, Breakdown”, “The Next Life”, etc. I was Skeleton on there whether I have it already or not… I’ve purchased Many, Many BP items multiple times…

Steven

By putting… Not by point… Damned auto-spell

edroffe

Great song, really moving :’)

Oh great more bad news….there goes my reason to consume dark chocolate, red wine boo!! My poor friends are pretending that they didn’t read this:

Interesting to read that you reflect so critically after all this time since the record was released. It fits the quote you put on your blog recently: artists always seem to be driven by dissatisfaction…

Does it really make a difference, whether it’s released as a single or not? I don’t think so

Glenn

This definitely should have been a single, it has become one of my most played songs under Pioneers of course!

One of my favourites, I love love love it!

millsy

if u had of lead with this, it would have been a bold statement from the previous album….could have gone either way for you as a band….i think you made the right moves, but agreed in saying it should have been on intimacy….

Woody

i agree this could have been an excellent single, when limited edition intimacy came out i was convinced this would follow talons… and then came one month off?!? not a bad track at all just… everyone had already heard it a million times.. and plus no b-side to one month off.. it was a very surprising move in my eyes. well at least it found its way on to some form of release anyway! unlike some other talked about but no-show material ;) i.e. the second song from the one more chance sessions… or was that just typical kele interview bluffing???

but one question remains though… why never played live?? this would be a corker!

Good, that it’s at least a Bonus Track.

mike

totally agree , best song for intimacy , followed closely by letter to my son

Saras M

It’s a beautiful song…

Kele, I love this song. It’s a shame you guys didn’t release it on the album but ohwell! at least people have heard it and gotten meaning from the lyrics.

Bouclette

Doesn’t matter. Every fan knows and appreciate that song, even if it’s not on the main record. We enjoyed both records. And people who discovered and liked the main one surely listened the remix version and then found that treasure. Just logical !

blocparty4life

easily one of the best songs on the album

dale em

great track off an unbelievable album that got me through a really tough time in my life, god bless bloc party 4ever! loads of love to the bloc x

Katie

This is one of my favourites. I totally agree that this should have been on the record! :)

D.I.

I love this song

As a bonus track alongside Letter To My Son i could never see why they were ONLY bonus tracks, easily the best extra tracks tagged onto the end of a album. I would love to of seen this played live.

Simon

Yeah, and it is a great song. I love Letter to my Son loads as well, and was surprised that wasn’t on the main album.

I only ever heard the remixed version which I thought was the best song on the album.

Awwww, that’s my video!
I’m honoured to be on your blog Kele.
Killer bass line in this song, love all of it.

I simply love this song…
If you could play it during the Boxer Tour, it would be really great!

Jon

Completely agree with Rilta, the first comment. Such an amazing song along with Letter to my Son. I’m just glad they were included on the extended album.

Dave

Kele…I don’t know if you read these comments, but if you do- please, please, please play this song for the Webster Hall show. I can’t begin to describe how amazing this song is. I’ve seen a couple brief clips on YouTube, and I would love to see this live.
