The Dinner Party (Inspired from a couple listens to All The Things I Could Never Say)
I can keep your secret
An edge of a blade I look at
With a steady wrist
I watch the smiles pass
Across the mutilated party heads
The whispers twist across the mass
From mouth to mouth
Passing
South to south
Further down the sickness of Saturday night
Somehow, this never feels right
Take another sip
Force the peace of mind
It will be alright
Someone please dim the lights
For a darker perspective
The flies on the wall begin to bite
The smiling drones infected
White magic sparkles across the room
Sweeping broken bodies beneath the rug
Outlets spark a current from a drowning plug
Another vein to maintain for another shameless drug
All the while lustful twitches tread on the unseen eye
Heads tilt to the side
Waiting for a hollow reply
Bending ears tune to my frequency
Claws bore through me
While they grin their salivating grin
Teeth digging in
I know what they long for
What will make their hearts start beating again
The whispers tremor through the crowd
Waiting for me to begin
I hold for a moment of silence
The secrets subtle defiance
I scan the mess and find you by surprise
My heart counts the measures as I stare into your eyes
The sobering effect intersects my plans
And I suddenly realize
What I must do to help you to save you
You bite your soft lower lip
A gift from the stars
An angel among the monsters
A defiance of the bizarre
They scratch a claw against the glass
And the squawking dies down
My moment to float
Your moment to drown
I place a hand upon my heart
To feel it bursting in its shell
I mutter to my audience that I will never tell
I gaze upon you for one last time
Before the toxic dream unwinds
The wallpaper scrapes itself to the floor
Windows shatter on all that matters
As the rumors all become true
One peels back his eyelids
Awakened from his drunken hue
Others retch at the sight of what they’ve become
Grotesque from what they knew
And all the while you stare at me
Diamonds spilling from the roof
Living proof
That there is a greater truth
And as the party crumbles
Back to its withered dependency
Your dark secret will stay
Between just you and me
