although david starkey’s comments in this clip, equating white culture with good and black culture with bad are obviously foolhardy, the thing that really worries me is that comments like these essentially legitimize an unspoken prejudice that is already apparent in the media of this country. a discussion about lawlessness is becoming a discussion about race, which will only be divisive for britain in the long run.

This is insanely shocking! david starkey is not doing a very good job of justifying his ridiculous and offensive nonesense! I am in despair of the racist bigots who incite hatred, he is a historian ! If the person who was killed was white, would he attribute it to white working class culture? a person was killed and people were initially conducting a peaceful protest. Why should mention of the actual ‘colour’ of the people be a contributing factor to causal theories? people responded to what happened and violence and crime escalated … this ludicrous attitude does not help anything>
